Dopo un tratto più ripido esso compie un lungo diagonale e, superata un'ultima balza, tocca il ripiano dove sorge il ricovero (mt. 2641). Imboccato il sentiero che sorge alle spalle della costruzione superiamo un tratto nuovamente ripido sino alla soprastante dorsale. Qui la pendenza per un buon tratto si attenua e, volgendo a sinistra, ci portiamo alla base di un'ultima balza che termina nei pressi del Colle della Resta (mt. 3183). Dal valico, senza porre piede sul Ghiacciaio del Rocciamelone, prendiamo a destra aggirando sulla destra un primo risalto.
