Al tornante immediatamente prima dell'abitato di Termignon svoltare verso destra seguendo una strada con numerosi tornanti fino al parcheggio di Bellecombe dove un divieto di transito obbliga a lasciare l'auto. Il sentiero a questo punto si abbassa fino a quota 2053, dove un ponte sul torrente della Rocheure precede di poco il rifugio Entre Deux Eaux (mt. 2120). Giunti ad un bivio ci lasciamo sulla destra il vallone che porta al rifugio della Leisse, sito ai piedi della Grande Motte, e ci inerpichiamo invece sui tornanti sulla sinistra cui si accede tramite un secondo ponte. Proseguiamo su buon sentiero costeggiando il torrente Vanoise; toccati alcuni laghetti pervieniamo al rifugio Felix Faure (mt. 2516 - 3 h 30'). Sveglia molto prima dell'alba, per la precisione alle 4:30. Discesi nei pressi del Lac Long risaliamo la morena seguendo radi ometti in pietra puntando verso il ghiacciaio dei Grands Couloirs. Il primo risalto, in genere su ghiaccio vivo, è senza dubbio il più ripido di tutta la salita e va affrontato con estrema cautela. Nel tratto successivo la pendenza si attenua ed occorre dirigersi verso un secondo couloir che mantiene una pendenza media di 40-45° per circa 400 metri di dislivello. Pieghiamo quindi progressivamente verso destra puntando al colle dei Grands Couloirs che separa la Grande Casse dalla vicina Punta Mathews, di qualche metro più bassa. Poco prima di toccare la depressione, deviamo a sinistra per andare a prendere la cresta nevosa che permette di accedere ai 3855 metri della vetta (5 h 30' dal rifugio).<u><br> <br> </u></span><span style="font-weight: 700">Note di Salita: </span> <span style="font-weight: 400">E' consigliabile pernottare presso il rifugio FELIX FAURE, che è anche il più vicino alla vetta.<br> <br> </span><b><font color="#927E6D">DISCESA:</font></b></font></font><span style="font-weight: 400"><font face="Verdana" size="2"> lungo l'itinerario di salita. Prestare molta attenzione nella discesa dei couloir, specialmente se ghiacciati. A causa della lunghezza dell'escursione potrebbe risultare faticosa la risalita dai 2053 metri del ponte sulla Rocheure fino ai 2364 metri del rifugio del Plan du Lac.
