Dopo un tratto pianeggiante pieghiamo leggermente a destra per poi superare direttamente una ripida gobba ghiacciata (circa 45°) e raggiungere un tratto decisamente meno inclinato. Un traverso a sinistra ed un ultimo pendio innevato ci conducono all'attacco del tratto roccioso della cresta; dopo un primo settore di rocce rotte e qualche breve risalto ci portiamo sul versante meridionale della nostra montagna sfruttando una piccola cengia. Appena prima di un canalino innevato pieghiamo a sinistra per guadagnare dislivello in maniera più decisa e dopo qualche decina di metri tocchiamo i 3769 metri della Cima Occodentale del Rateau.<u><br> <br> </u></span><span style="font-weight: 700">Note di Salita: </span> <span style="font-weight: 400">Il tratto più ripido del ghiacciaio è aggirabile sulla sua destra, dove un traverso quasi pianeggiante conduce ad uno scivolo assai meno inclinato; questa variante è consigliabile specialmente in caso di presenza di ghiaccio sul percorso. Una volta imboccata la cengia è possibile, appena oltre uno spigolo della montagna, volgere immediatamente a sinistra (cordini in loco per le successive calate in corda doppia) sfruttando un settore di rocce decisamente più pulite di quelle da noi risalite.<br> <br> </span><b><font color="#927E6D">DISCESA:</font></b></font></font><span style="font-weight: 400"><font face="Verdana" size="2"> Dalla cima seguiamo per un tratto la cresta ovest sino al primo punto di sosta (cordini in loco) per la prima delle tre calate da 30 mt. che ci depositeranno sulla cengia percorsa all'andata. Una volta riguadagnato il ghiacciaio ci portiamo in prossimità del tratto più ripido percorso all'andata. Anzichè discenderlo direttamente ci spostiamo sulla sinistra dove la pendenza del pendio è minore e, soprattutto, dove ci è possibile evitare il ghiaccio affrontato in precedenza.</font></span><font
