Imbocchiamo subito un buon sentiero (segnavia U9) che si diparte sulla destra idrografica del torrente Vallanta e che risale il vallone omonimo. Ad una quota di 1912 metri si diparte sulla destra il sentiero per il bivacco Bertoglio. Attraversato il vicino ponte ne imbocchiamo la successiva serie di tornanti cui fa seguito la radura di Pian Meyer (mt. 2126) ove il sentiero volge a sinistra. Dopo un paio di piccole balze il vallone si allarga nei pressi del Gias del Fons (mt. 2365). A questo punto abbandoniamo il sentiero che prosegue lungo il vallone ed affrontiamo il pendio alla nostra sinistra; giunti grosso modo all'altezza della costa Les Alpiols pieghiamo progressivamente a destra andando in tal modo ad imboccare e poi ad attraversare un facile canale nevoso.
