Dal rifugio risaliamo il Ruisseau des Loses fino ad una quota approssimativa di 2500 metri, dopodichè attraversiamo il corso d'acqua per poi puntare decisamente verso il ghiacciaio di Sources de l'Isere. I vari crepacci che ne solcano la superficie si lasciano aggirare abbastanza facilmente ed un ultimo tratto un pò più ripido ci consente di toccare la depressione posta tra la Grande e la Petite Aiguille Rousse. Volgendo a sinistra seguiamo la facile cresta che ha termine sui 3482 metri della Grande Aiguille Rousse. Tornati alla depressione risaliamo quindi la cresta opposta onde guadagnare la cima della Petite Aiguille Rousse (mt. 3432). Di qui discendiamo l'altro versante fino al col du Montet (mt. 3185) dove un tratto di rocce più inclinate ci richiede qualche cautela supplementare.
