Ivi giunti seguiamo i segnavia del gta che, su buon sentiero, ci condurranno al colle della Croce (mt. 2298) ove sorge un piccolo ricovero. Volgendo a sinistra percorriamo l'ampio pendio erboso fin sulla sommità del Custassa (mt. 2839). Di qui in avanti percorriamo il filo di cresta fino a quando il superamento di una breve bastionata rocciosa ci costringe ad una deviazione verso destra. Qui troviamo un piccolo canale che ci conduce all'ultima diagonale erbosa in direzione del colle Vittona (mt. 2592). La salita al vicino Monte Cappello (mt. 2839) non avrebbe storia se non per il superamento di un tratto roccioso non lungo ma di rocce mediocri e dove la scelta del tracciato migliore non è sempre così intuitiva. Riprendiamo la nostra piccola traversata nuovamente lungo il filo di cresta fino al sottostante colle Vecchio (mt. 2665) dove ha inizio la nostra ultima fatica.
