Seguendo le indicazioni per il parco Orsiera-Rocciavrè si attraversa l'intero abitato e si imbocca una strada che, con numerosi tornanti, risale il fianco della montagna posta alle spalle del paese. Ad un bivio piegare a sinistra lasciando sulla destra le indicazioni per la Certosa di Montebenedetto. Dal valico ci lasciamo sulla destra la sagoma della Punta Costabruna percorrendo in vece il sentiero che, con andamento quasi pianeggiante, tocca in breve il colle delle Vallette (mt. 2303). Seguendo le tacche rosse ci abbassiamo sulla sottostante pietraia di Cassafrera dove, tra grossi blocchi e massi di varie dimensioni, una traccia risale l'ampio canalone che adduce al colletto Ricciavrè (mt. 2550). Dalla depressione prendiamo a destra risalendo l'ampio crestone di detriti e rocce rotte, tenendoci preferibilmente sulla sinistra del medesimo, toccando la piatta sommità della Punta Cassafrera (mt. 2717). Abbassandoci facilmente al colletto sottostante continuiamo a percorrere la cresta verso l'ormai evidente cima orientale del Rocciavrè (mt. 2778) superando alcuni facili passaggi su roccia. Dalla prima cima del Rocciavrè puntiamo ora alla seconda, abbassandoci direttamente lungo il versante settentrionale dove rocce piuttosto instabili ci consentono di toccare una cengia detritica e poco marcata. Piegando a sinistra ci portiamo con percorso pianeggiante fin sul filo della cresta calandoci poi direttamente fino alla stretta forcella sottostante. Lungo le non difficili tracce del versante opposto raggiungiamo in fine i 2770 metri della cima occidentale del Rocciavrè. Eccezzion fatta per la Punta Cassafrera (che invece di risalire ci lasciamo sulla sinistra tagliando in piano il detritico pendio) ripercorriamo a ritroso il percorso dell'andata fino al colletto Ricciavrè. Qui risaliamo la facile cresta di rocce rotte che culmina con i 2632 metri della Punta del Lago. La cresta prosegue in direzione nordest e, pur non presentando mai passaggi troppo impegnativi, richiede un'attenzione pressochè costante sulla scelta dell'itinerario. Quando la cresta si appoggia fino a diventare praticamente orizzontale il percorso si sposta un poco a sinistra del filo ma il punto culminante della Punta Pian Reale (mt. 2617) diventa evidente e si snoda attraverso grossi blocchi accatastati (4 h 30').<u><br> <br> </u></span><span style="font-weight: 700">Note di Salita: </span> <span style="font-weight: 400"><br> <br> </span><b><font
